Adventure.

Maybe it's not much of one.
Maybe it don't look that fun.

but I get my adventure
riding on my bike.
Watching yellow fields, dead leaves go by.
Cold wind whipping,
keeping me alive.

I get my adventure
flying through the night
Chasing down green moons, dodging yellow monster eyes.
Eyes constantly adjusting,
fighting dark embracing sight.

I get my adventure
looking back at from time to time
at my partner in crime, my Andean adventure guide.
Feet cyclically pedaling
spinning new rhythms and rhyme.

Maybe it don't sound that fun.
Maybe it's not much of one...
but I get my adventure
staring sidelong at you.

- e.a.

Empty.

Who ever thought
a pair of boots, a skirt, a long stranded faux gold necklace
could ever make you feel...
so sick?

I stare
Feel my brain rot
Feel my face grow hot
15 seconds turns to 20 minutes
20 minutes to an hour

...an hour of your life
that's never coming back.
Emptiness is all that's left.
A void filled with a pair of boots, a form fitting pencil skirt, and a necklace
you don't even have.

Oh the places you'll go...

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose" (Dr. Seuss, Oh the Places You'll Go!).

Well, I guess. If you want to walk everywhere...

Going anywhere too far requires a car. Which means money, gasoline...maintenance, etc.
Good thing I have a bike. And a nontransferible bus pass which I share illegaly with my husband.
